A few months ago we saw a neat item in a pet magazine. It was basically a pole that you attach to your bicycle that kept your dog from getting to close to the wheels and kept them going in a straight line. This may sound strange but when we camp we like to ride bikes and often have Abby with us. Last time we went camping we decided to put her in a soft-sided kennel and leave her in the camper with the air conditioning running...after a short ride we came back around by the camper. The camper was on the lower road and I see Shannon take off down the hill (through someone else's campsite). I thought he was just playing with Jacob until I see the kennel rolling end over end down the road!! Our silly dog had wiggled herself to the door of the camper, tumbled out the door and was hamster ball walking down the road! It was actually a hilarious site but it terrified me that it would happen again and she would get hurt so for the rest of the trip we couldn't all ride at the same time.
Anyway, back to the pole...in the magazine it cost around $40. So this weekend, Shannon came up with the bright idea that he would make his own pole so that when we camp this weekend she can go "bike riding" with us!
She really wasn't sure what to think about it and after going for a short trip down the road she was exhausted. You can see her bad leg in the picture and I think it was hard on it. Needless to say, she got a doggy tylenol that night and lots of cuddles. Hopefully she can ride with us some this weekend and then the rest of the time we will take turns going.

oh, how funny! ruby rides in the wagon....you need to get one of those baby carrier "side car" like things only they pull behind the bike. i bet she would fit in that and love the ride!
